Looking Up Again: Why I’m Bringing My Astrophotography Back to My Own Site

After exploring different social media platforms to host my astrophotography blog, I have decided to go fully independent and to bring my abandoned website, justinthedark.com, back to life.
This is a conscious decision to step away from the toxicity of most social media, with one exception: Bluesky. I didn’t choose Bluesky to join an echo chamber, but rather because I feel it offers the best individual moderation tools, allowing me to filter out distractions and focus on what truly matters. I intend to share quick edits and images with the 300-character limit on Bluesky, while sharing deeper content here on my website.
Soon, you’ll also have the option to sign up for a monthly newsletter, so if you’d rather have my astrophotography delivered straight to your inbox instead of checking back here or creating a Bluesky account, that’ll be an easy way to stay connected.
I hope, no matter what’s happening in the world, you always remember to keep looking up.
Clear skies,
Justin
